Hijaiyyah Sound Lab: Safari Scouts Edition
A 1-Day Adventure • Tue, 13 October 2026 • 9am-4.30pm
A full day of hands-on play that leaves your child knowing all 28 Huruf Hijaiyyah, and where every sound is made.
WHY WE BUILT THIS
For many young learners, the huruf hijaiyyah are something to get through. Worksheets, repetition, and recitation drills work, but they ask a lot of a seven year old before the real journey has even begun. Children memorise the order and the shapes, and often still freeze when it's time to read.
The gap is usually sound. A huruf isn't a shape on a page; it's a sound, and every sound has a home in the mouth. When a child knows where a sound is made, at the lips, the tongue, or the throat, they stop guessing and start reading with intention.
The Hijaiyyah Sound Lab teaches the 28 huruf the way children actually learn: through movement, listening, and play. Not as a reward for finishing the hard work, but as the method itself.
WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY
Children are grouped by articulation point, not alphabetical order. The letters that share a home in the mouth are learnt together, so each new sound builds on the last. Across the day they'll move through nine games, each one built around a different group of huruf.
Between games there's breakfast, lunch, Zuhur and Asar, snack time, and proper breaks. The day is active, but it's paced for this age group.
BY THE END OF THE DAY, YOUR CHILD WILL
✓ Recognise and recall all 28 Huruf Hijaiyyah
✓ Discover where each sound is made, at the lips, tongue, and throat
✓ Build confidence in their Quran learning journey
✓ Grow their focus, listening, and participation
YOUR FACILITATOR
The day is led by Ustazah Nusaibah RNB from the ILHAM and LearnQuran Series team.

GOOD TO KNOW
Q: Does my child need prior knowledge?
A: No. The camp starts from the beginning and suits children who are new to the huruf as well as those who've learnt some and need it to stick.
Q: Is a full day too long?
A: The day is built around movement and changes activity every 15 to 25 minutes, with meals and rest breaks throughout. Children aren't sitting still for long stretches.
Q: What if my child is shy?
A: They'll be in a small group with the same facilitator all day. Most of the games are team based rather than solo, so no one is put on the spot alone.
Q: What should we pack?
A: Comfortable clothes they can move in, a water bottle, and a small prayer garment.
Q: Are meals halal?
A: Yes. Please let us know of any allergies or dietary needs when you register.
Q: What if my child has an allergy or medical need?
A: Let us know at registration and we'll be in touch before the day.
Q: Can I stay?
A: This is a drop-off event. You're welcome at drop-off and pickup, and we'll share photos and a recap afterwards.
